3 February 1928 (DE) - Busman's Annual Party - The annual party for the wives and children of the members of the East Kent Road Car Company Sports Club was held in the Garage, St James's St on Friday. There were 20 mothers and 40 children entertained to an excellent tea, which was served at tables decorated with flowers, plants and bowls of goldfish. Mr Hunnisette kept the children amused with his antics as a clown, and after tea, the children took part in games, etc. During the evening, the lights were extinguished and a spot light was shown on to a window, through which Father Christmas entered and distributed toys to delighted children. Mrs Chapman was presented with a workbasket in recognition in recognition of the hard work she had done in connection with the function, while Mr Chapman was given a monkey o a stick. Everybody enjoyed the party which was the most successful event yet organised. Each child was given oranges, apples bananas and sweets, and taken home by bus. The annual social for Club members, their wives and friends will be held in the Crypt Cafe on February 27th.
