"It is said!!", that this was known as the REME workshop, and prior to this it was used to raise armaments from the railway line directly under this site via an access tunnel (now covered over).

Circa 1941 - A pair of reinforced concrete buildings built, and were used as an Instrument workshop and on the right was separate overnight living accommodation.  In 1943 they were being used  by the coastal defence maintenance unit of the REME.  These buildings are positioned directly over the over the rail tunnel, "it is said!!" that there was access down to the tunnel to allow unloading within the tunnel of armaments/equipment to the heights by way of the RSJ & crane that runs from outside to inside the building and can be seen extending outside into the small yard.
