This garage started out as the livery stable for the Red Cow Hotel at 1 Folkestone Road. It was sometimes listed as 1 Folkestone Road, however the Red Cow Hotel was No1, the stables/garage was situated just to the right.

14th October 1932 (Dover Express) - THE GARAGE ROBBERY - At the Police Court on Friday last week, before Messers W. J. Barnes, J. W Bussey, W Bradley, S. L. Living, W. S. Lee, W. B. Brett and W. L. Law.
Arthur Ernest Clark (25), a labourer, of no fixed abode, was charged on remand with stealing on the 4th October, from a till in the office of the "Red Cow" Garage, 1 Folkestone Road, the sum of £6 4s 10½d the property of Messers Lewis Bros (Dover), Ltd.
The Prisoner said that he pleaded guilty to stealing five £1 notes only. He had trouble with a girl, and was making arrangements for marrying her. He walked all over the country looking for work.
In reply to the Magistrates Clerk, prisoner said he was in the Royal Artillery for two years , but was discharged on a civil conviction.
The Chief Constable said that there were nine previous convictions against the prisoner.
The Chairman said that he would be sentences to six months hard labour. It was too late to send him to the quarter sessions.
Mr Lewis congratulated the Police on their smart work.

All the premises had been visited and found in order. The applications were approved. He would be reporting later in regard to petroleum containers on wheels holding 40 or 50 gallons at the garages of Messers Lewis Bros Ltd and Dover Autocar Co.

10 March 1939 Dover Express - Enlarging Garage - The Surveyor reported that an application had been received from Messers Lewis Bros, "Red Cow" Garage, to increase their licence for storage of an additional 1000 gallons of petroleum spirit and the erection of two additional pumps. The spirit would be stored in underground tanks of the usual construction and served by way of two-way concrete pumps. There were three swing arms in existence and it was not intended to increase the number. The firm stated that they had been in business there since December 1926, and alterations were to be made to enable cars to draw into the yard for refueling. The Surveyor added that particulars had been forwarded to the Minister of Transport, whose consent was required. Approval should be subject to the concurrence of the Minister of Transport. This was agreed required.
